Ajax star Youri Baas has provided his response to the recent transfer speculation linking him with a move to La Liga giants Barcelona.
This comes amid the assurance on the part of the 23-year-old that the rumours are ‘a huge compliment’.
Spanish champions Barca have of course been linked with a whole host of central defenders ahead of the January transfer window. Amid an ongoing search for fresh blood at the heart of defence, Deco and co. have drawn up a shortlist of potential additions.
Recent days have seen the name of the aforementioned Youri Baas added to this list, amid the understanding that the Dutchman, left-footed and technically sound, is considered the ideal profile to reinforce Hansi Flick’s backline.
Speaking to the media on Thursday night, Baas was himself therefore drawn on the possibility of taking his talents to Catalunya’s capital.
And as per Diario Sport, the stopper went on to respond in positive fashion:
“I think it’s the biggest club in the world. It’s a huge compliment. I have no idea where they (the rumours) come from, but I have seen something. It’s nice, of course.”
