Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid squad were on Friday paid a visit by an iconic former member of the club’s defensive ranks, in Raphaël Varane.
The Frenchman confirmed as much courtesy of a post across his social media accounts.
Varane, who spent 10 years plying his trade in Spain’s capital between 2011 and 2021, posted a photo of Los Blancos’ current crop of stars at Valdebebas, accompanied by the caption:
‘Always good to visit Real Madrid’
Real Madrid are of course currently in the thick of preparations for a return to action on Saturday evening.
Fresh off a 2-1 triumph over arch rivals Barcelona last weekend, Alonso and co. are set to welcome Valencia to the Spanish capital, for another La Liga clash.
Los Merengues head into the matchup sitting pretty atop the table, boasting a five-point advantage over reigning champions Barca courtesy of a record of nine wins from ten.
