A new option for Barcelona? Maurizio Sarri in shock Lazio resignation

A new option for La Liga giants Barcelona amid the club’s ongoing search for a new manager with a view to next season has opened up this afternoon.

This comes amid confirmation that Maurizio Sarri has come to the decision to part ways with Serie A outfit Lazio.

As confirmed by a whole host of sources, the Italian tactician, altogether out of the blue, informed the board at the Stadio Olimpico of his decision to step down with immediate effect a short time ago.

So, what could as much mean for the aforementioned Barcelona?

Sarri is a manager to have been tipped for the bench at the Camp Nou on a number of occasions in the past, with his exploits whilst in charge of Napoli understood to have been particularly appreciated by the Blaugrana board.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, the 65-year-old is considered as being in possession of ‘Barca DNA’, owing to his favoured free-flowing brand of football.

With a final shortlist of managerial candidates having already been drawn up by Deco and Joan Laporta, it is currently unclear whether Sarri could now be taken into consideration.

But one thing is for sure – a new option has today made himself very much available for the post at Barcelona.
