6 yellow cards, 1 red: All of the Barcelona & Real Madrid players punished for Clásico brawl

A number of players from each side were shown cards for their respective parts in the chaotic close to Sunday’s meeting between Real Madrid and Barcelona.

In fact, no fewer than seven stars were punished.

As revealed by COPE, citing the referee’s official post-match report, the following players were shown yellow cards:

Vinícius Jr, Ferran Torres, Alejandro Balde, Fermín López, Rodrygo, and Éder Militão.

Real Madrid shot-stopper Andriy Lunin, meanwhile, was handed a straight red card for his actions on the touchline.

The heated exchanges culminating in the sanctions outlined above came both before and after the full-time whistle at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.

Turning focus back towards the action on the pitch itself, though, it was Real Madrid who emerged triumphant from the season’s first edition of El Clásico.

Owing to goals on the part of Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham, Xabi Alonso’s troops have opened a five-point advantage over Barcelona atop the La Liga table.
