5 Barcelona stars report for training on day off

A quintet of first-team players at La Liga champions Barcelona on Monday reported to the club’s training base, despite having been afforded the day off.

That’s according to journalist Carlos Monfort of Diario Sport.

Barcelona are of course fresh off getting the defence of the club’s La Liga title up and running over the weekend.

After making the trip to Son Moix for an opening day meeting with RCD Mallorca on Saturday, the Blaugrana cruised to an eventual 3-0 triumph.

Barca’s players, in turn, were called to the Ciutat Esportiva on Sunday, for a recovery training session under the watch of Hansi Flick and his staff.

On Monday, though, the Catalans were afforded a day off, to secure some much-needed rest.

But as alluded to above, this did not stop five players from making their way to the club’s training facilities, to go through individualised sessions.

As per the aforementioned Carlos Monfort:

‘With the team more engaged than ever, not everyone is taking time off at the Ciutat Esportiva. Joan García, Pedri, Dani Olmo, Wojciech Szczęsny and Oriol Romeu all voluntarily came to train’ on Monday.
