1 goal, 2 assists: Barcelona summer signings shine in La Liga opener

Two members of the summer recruitment drive at La Liga giants Barcelona enjoyed dream starts to their respective Blaugrana stints on Sunday. This came as Hansi Flick’s troops got the defence of their Spanish top-flight crown up and running in remarkable fashion.

Barca marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero for a meeting with Elche.

When all was said and done, the visitors emerged on the right side of a dominant 5-0 result, looking nothing short of spectacular despite the absence of a natural no.9.

Raphinha proved himself the star of the show on the night, directly contributing to three goals, whilst Fermín López was on target to the tune of a brace, too.

As alluded to above, though, most encouraging of all when it came to the performance produced by Barcelona were the contributions of the club’s summer additions.

Karim Adeyemi was afforded a starting berth by fellow countryman Hansi Flick, and responded with a fine goal late in the first-half. Introduced from the bench, Anthony Gordon then staked his claim for a place in next week’s XI, courtesy of a pair of assists.
