Villarreal injury update: Yeremy Pino to miss the season and Euro 2024

As reported by Relevo, Yeremy Pino has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture with the player set to be sidelined for the rest of the season.

Pino suffered a knee injury on Wednesday and following some tests this morning the severity of the injury has now been confirmed.

The 21-year-old has had a difficult start to the season with muscular problems disrupting his preseason. Consequently, the player missed the start of the season before making his first appearance against Cádiz on the fourth matchday.

However, in October the winger faced another injury setback. A hamstring injury kept him out for a further four weeks, but the player later made his return against Maccabi Haifa in November.

Just three days later, he was included in the starting lineup for the match against Atlético Madrid, however, he was taken off at half-time.

Now the young forward has been dealt a huge blow with this latest injury, which will likely see him miss out on the upcoming European Championship in Germany.

The injury has also affected Villarreal’s plans, as the club had made it a priority to bring in a striker and defender in January, however, his position on the right wing will now need strengthening.
