Pini Zahavi, one of football’s most important agents with clients such as Cristopher Nkunku, Robert Lewandowski, and Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg, has spoken out about the ongoing case regarding Yannick Carrasco’s potential departure from Atlético Madrid to Barcelona.
“The plan is to switch Memphis Depay for Yannick Carrasco” proclaimed Zahavi to Belgian news outlet Nieuwsblad.
In recent days, the Israeli football agent has begun to push for Carrasco’s move to the Catalan club, after more delays in a promised wage increase by Atlético. As reported by NB, this promise has been on hold since Los Rojiblanco’s league win in 2021 and the Belgian is now dissatisfied with his treatment at the club.
Because of this, Zahavi and Carrasco have their eyes set on Barcelona. Xavi and his team would see the player as a good fit for the squad. The Catalan club’s desire for Carrasco is reportedly so great that they’ve requested his transfer be discussed in the negotiations for Memphis Depay.
However, Atlético are unlikely to let go of yet another attacker, since the departures of Joao Félix and Matheus Cunha have left the team with little offensive threat.
With that said, Depay has played very little this season and would act as an important addition to Atlético’s front line. Added to the pressure piled on by Zahavi, it could only be a matter of time before the two Benelux attackers switch clubs in some form or another.
