Xavi’s camp send warning to Barcelona over resignation hopes

An insight into the stance of Barcelona head coach Xavi and his entourage regarding the possibility of stepping down from his post has this week been provided.

As much comes amid suggestions that the Barcelona brass are hopeful of the club’s headmaster coming to the decision to resign over the coming weeks.

It is of course common knowledge that Xavi’s position on the bench in Catalunya’s capital is no longer safe.

This comes amid widespread confirmation that the Blaugrana board were left nothing short of furious with comments laid out by the 44-year-old during a press conference last week.

Joan Laporta and co. are therefore giving serious consideration to sending Xavi on his way with a view to next season.

An even more attractive proposition on the part of the board at the Camp Nou, though, would come in the form of the club’s headmaster stepping down.

In the case of as much, Xavi and his coaching staff would not be entitled to the kind of compensatory package owed for a unilateral firing.

This time round, however, the former midfielder appears to have little intention of aiding the club with as much.

Xavi of course announced his intention to depart in the summer earlier this year, only to be convinced of the merits of staying put by the Barca hierarchy.

Just weeks on from having his continuity confirmed for next season, he will understandably therefore not agree to step down once again.

As per a report from El Larguero, the message stemming from Xavi’s camp is a simple one:

“We will not announce our resignation twice in one season.”
