Xavi: “We dominated the game but dropped two points.”

Speaking to Movistar+ after Barcelona’s 2-2 draw with rivals Espanyol, Xavi Hernández discussed his side’s performance.

“We could have made it 2-0 at one stage. We also made a mistake for Raúl de Tomás’ goal. We had good chances, we played well and it’s a pity to only draw. It feels like a win when you score in the 96th minute but we dropped two points.

“We dominated the game. We were in their half for almost the entire game. We were effective in front of goal last week but not this week. I thought we equalled them for intensity.

“It’s a pity we couldn’t be as clinical this week. Luuk [de Jong] is a goalscorer and he took his chance. I didn’t see the incident with [Gerard] Piqué. it’s very difficult for us to win the league but we have to stay in the fight.”
