Xavi speaks out on Barcelona future after win over PSG

Barcelona head coach Xavi provided a fresh update on his future, on the back of the club’s latest outing on Wednesday night.

Barca, of course, are fresh off marking their return to action on the continent with a victory.

After making the trip to the Parc des Princes for the first-leg of the club’s Champions League quarter-final tie with Paris Saint-Germain, the Catalans ultimately emerged on the right side of a 3-2 result.

In the game’s aftermath, meanwhile, the aforementioned Xavi has been showered in deserved praise.

As much comes after the Spanish tactician’s 2nd-half substitutions proved the difference in Barcelona recovering from a 2-1 deficit.

First, Pedri emerged from the bench to lay on Raphinha’s equaliser, before Andreas Christensen’s introduction was swiftly followed by the Dane netting the evening’s winner.

On a night which has seen him hailed by not only the media, but the ever-critical Barca fanbase, too, Xavi, in turn, was inevitably asked for the latest on his future.

This comes as calls begin to mount for the ex-Blaugrana midfielder to reverse his decision to depart upon the season’s close.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, however, Xavi remained unwavering in his stance that his stint on the bench in Catalunya’s capital will come to an end in the summer:

“Nothing has changed regarding my future.”
