Xavi speaks out on Barcelona future after victory over Rayo Vallecano

Barcelona head coach Xavi has tonight provided a fresh insight into his future.

As much comes fresh off Barca clinching victory in their final home outing of the campaign.

After welcoming Rayo Vallecano to Catalunya’s capital for a La Liga clash, Xavi’s troops ultimately marched on to the right side of a 3-0 result.

This came owing to goals on the part of Robert Lewandowski, and super-sub Pedri (2).

Barcelona, in turn, have secured for themselves a 2nd-placed finish in Spain’s top-flight, and an ensuing place in next year’s Supercopa de España, with a game to spare.

And yet, post-match, it was not the subject of matters on the pitch which took its place front and centre in Blaugrana boss Xavi’s post-match press conference.

Instead, this came in the form of his future beyond the summer.

Recent days have of course seen speculation mount that Xavi could be sent on his way over the coming weeks, after leaving the Camp Nou brass less than impressed with his comments during a midweek press conference.

After sitting down in front of the media once more on Sunday, it therefore came as little surprise when his future was again put to the 44-year-old himself.

Xavi, though, continued to maintain his stance that nothing has changed when it comes to his plans moving forward:

“Nothing has changed regarding my future. If something changes, I would be delighted to tell you.”

He continued:

“I’m in constant contact with the president and the technical staff. They gave me confidence to win today, it was important.

“With the president, we spoke after our win last match and he told me we had to win against Rayo.”
