Xavi sends warning to next Barcelona manager

Departing Barcelona head coach Xavi has this evening sent a piece of advice the way of the man set to replace him on the club’s bench.

Xavi, of course, is fresh off overseeing his final outing as Barcelona boss.

After being informed of his impending dismissal earlier in the week, the Spaniard guided the Blaugrana into their season finale – a La Liga meeting with Sevilla.

When all was said and done, Barca emerged on the right side of a 2-1 result, owing to goals on the part of Robert Lewandowski, and Fermín López.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle at The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, however, it was not the subject of tonight’s action which took its place front and centre in Xavi’s interview.

Instead, as much came in the form of his imminent exit.

Just weeks on from seeing his continuation for next season confirmed by the Barcelona brass, Xavi will imminently be replaced in the dugout in Catalunya’s capital, by Hansi Flick.

And, when asked if he has any advice for his successor late on Sunday, the former midfielder was as honest as ever:

“I would say to be ready, because it will be a very difficult situation.”
