Xavi sends demand to Barcelona fans before Napoli showdown

Barcelona head coach Xavi has this evening sent an unwavering message to the club’s supporters, regarding tomorrow’s impending showdown with Napoli.

Barca, of course, are primed to turn their attentions back towards matters on the continent in a little over 24 hours’ time.

Fresh off a hard-fought downing of Mallorca in La Liga on Friday, the Champions League is back on the agenda for Xavi and co. on Tuesday night.

After battling their way to a 1-1 first leg stalemate in Italy, the Blaugrana will now be tasked with putting a Napoli outfit to have long looked some way off their best to the sword once and for all.

Such efforts on Barcelona’s part will of course come sans the contributions of a number of key performers, with all of engine room trio Gavi, Pedri and Frenkie de Jong ruled out long-term through injury.

Safe to say, then, that Tuesday’s hosts will require all the help which they can garner from outside sources.

This evening, in turn, Xavi has forwarded something of a demand to those set to be in attendance at Montjuïc.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Monday, Barca’s headmaster pleaded with the club’s fanbase to turn their temporary home into a ‘pressure cooker’ environment tomorrow night:

“The fans have to be loud. They need to turn Montjuïc into a pressure cooker.”
