Xavi reiterates plans to bring on-loan Barcelona star back after Girona defeat

Barcelona head coach Xavi has again confirmed his intention to bring a member of the club’s loan army back to base with the club for next season.

The player in question? Eric García.

Stopper García, for his part, is fresh off playing a central role in Barcelona’s latest defeat.

As much comes after the former Manchester City man’s Girona put the Blaugrana to the sword by four goals to two in a La Liga clash at the Estadi Montilivi.

García is currently in the midst of a season-long loan stint with Girona, a spell which has seen the 23-year-old establish himself as one of Spanish football’s standout defenders.

Speaking to the media this week, the aforementioned Xavi, in turn, made clear his hope that he will have García back at his disposal at the Camp Nou next season.

And, when drawn on the subject post-match on Saturday night, Barca’s headmaster made use of the opportunity to reiterate the same message:

“I already said that Eric García has a spot at Barça. He plays for Girona now, but this was not my decision.”
