Xavi: Barcelona can’t compete with PSG’s offer for Ousmane Dembélé

Speaking to TV3 on the pitch of the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas at the end of the Milan-Barça (0-1) game and to the media later at a press conference, Xavi Hernandez spoke about Ousmane Dembélé, who is set to join PSG.

“I will be clear, Dembélé has asked us to leave, he has told us that he has a proposal from PSG, that they have called him. It is a personal decision and there is nothing we can do. We have taken great care of him so that he would be happy and continue to make a difference, but he has this proposal… He has said he wants to leave and that’s why he has not played. We can’t compete with this proposal, it’s out of our reach, and I wish him all the luck in the world because he has given us a lot, at least when I have been the coach,” he said in quotes transcribed by Mundo Deportivo.

Xavi added: “I am a little disappointed, yes, but he told us that he had already spoken to Luis Enrique and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and there was no way to convince him. We tried, but the decision was made.”
