Xavi: “I’m happy for Laporta.”

Last night Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 3-1 in the Supercopa de España final.

In his post-match interview that appeared on AS, Xavi stated that he thinks that the win will give a boost to the whole team:

“It gives a lot of calm, confidence because we have raised the players and have seen the fruits of our labour. We dominated almost the entire game and that makes the players believe. But we can’t stop here.”

“I have already said many times that I was still positive. I had the feeling that things were going well because I see it from the inside. We have a very good generation and this hunger for titles has been noticed. Hopefully it’s a turning point, but on Thursday we have to go down to Ceuta and we can’t slow down,” he added.

Xavi was asked whether he is happy for club president Joan Laporta as well:

“I’m also happy for him. He has bet on this project and I am especially happy for him, for the players and for the fans.”

Barcelona play Ceuta in the Copa del Rey this coming Thursday.
