Xavi: “I can only say positive things about Ousmane Dembélé.”

Speaking to the press following Barcelona’s 2-0 defeat to Villarreal in the last game of the league season, manager Xavi Hernández speculated about winger Ousmane Dembélé’s future at the club.

When enquired about the transfer situation, Xavi first praised the Frenchman’s professionalism and performance.

“Everyone goes where they want and where they think they will be happy, even more so if the contract ends. He has helped us a lot during the last six months, and made a difference while being committed. I can only say positive things about Ousmane. He has been a professional.”

Xavi wished Dembélé the best irrespective of whether he signs a new deal or not: “We’ll see if he stays here. There are negotiations, but I will always wish him the best.”

Dembélé has been in terrific form in the second half of the season. From being booed by the Camp Nou earlier in the season, the winger has received standing ovations after his displays in recent months. He has soared up the assists chart in La Liga, finishing the campaign with 13, the most in the division.

Paris Saint-Germain have been rumoured to be very interested in Dembélé in recent days.
