Xavi full of praise for Mason Greenwood ahead of Barcelona’s clash with Getafe

Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernández has provided an insight into the threat posed to his side by Getafe star Mason Greenwood.

As much, of course, comes ahead of Barca’s impending showdown with the Azulones.

Fresh off a somewhat disappointing 1-1 stalemate in the first leg of the club’s Champions League Last-16 tie with Napoli in midweek, the Blaugrana will turn their attentions back towards matters on the domestic front this weekend.

A meeting with the aforementioned Getafe lies in wait, on Saturday afternoon.

A three-point haul for the hosts in Catalunya would see them, at least temporarily, leapfrog Girona into 2nd place in the La Liga table.

Hopeful of putting a dent in such plans, though, will be a Getafe outfit in the midst of a solid recent stretch of form.

Speaking to the media this afternoon, the subject of the threat posed by his side’s upcoming opponents was therefore put to Barcelona headmaster Xavi.

Specifically, the Spanish tactician was drawn on Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood, whose impressive recent performances have seen the Englishman linked with a potential summer switch to the Camp Nou.

And Xavi was full of praise for Greenwood, confirming his belief that the young winger is a ‘differential’ on the pitch:

“Greenwood? He is a player who demands help, a player who makes a difference. Greenwood is a differential.”
