Xavi confirms when Vitor Roque will arrive at Barcelona

Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernández has provided an update on the impending arrival of Vitor Roque at the club.

The name of frontman Roque has of course long found itself front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital.

This comes after the powers that be at the Camp Nou struck a big-money deal with their counterparts at Athletico Paranaense, to add the prodigious 18-year-old to the club’s attacking ranks.

As per the initial terms of the agreement, Roque was due to spend the remainder of the season back on loan with Athletico, before linking up with his new teammates in Spain next summer.

Deco and co, though, have since spent countless hours at the negotiation table, in a bid to push his arrival forward to January.

And, after recent reports mounted that they had at long last found an agreement based on precisely that, Xavi this evening confirmed that Roque’s move will indeed take place imminently.

Speaking to the media, as cited by Goal, the Blaugrana headmaster explained:

“If everything goes well, he will join us after the holidays. We are in contact with him so that he arrives in good condition.”
