Xavi asked if dip in form could see him reverse decision to stay at Barcelona

Barcelona head coach Xavi was late on Saturday drawn on the possibility that his side’s alarming latest defeat could see him reconsider his decision to stay put for next season.

Barcelona, of course, were put to the sword in concerning fashion late last night.

In a crunch showdown in the race for 2nd in the La Liga table, the Blaugrana made the short trip to the Estadi Montilivi, for a meeting with Catalan neighbours Girona.

And, after taking a 2-1 advantage into the interval, a 2nd-half collapse on the part of Xavi’s troops saw them emerge on the wrong side of a 4-2 result.

Just a week on from his decision to remain for the final year of his contract being announced, the subject of whether his side’s latest setback, as well as a poor close to the season, could yet see him step down once and for all, was in turn put to Barcelona’s headmaster.

Xavi, however, was as blunt as could be in his response, simply confirming:

“No”
