Xavi and Jordi Cruyff meet with Ousmane Dembélé’s agent

As reported by Sport, Ousmane Dembélé’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, arrived in Barcelona on Tuesday and met with Barcelona manager Xavi Hernández in a bid to resolve the situation with the player.

Barça are trying to find a solution for the France international with less than a week to go until the transfer window closes. The meeting was also attended by Jordi Cruyff, while director Mateu Alemany was unable to attend because he recently tested positive for Covid-19.

Dembélé says that his intention is to remain at Barça, as Sissoko has also stated, so the two parties are working to find a solution, although Barcelona have confirmed that they will not raise their financial offer for the winger.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the club’s position has not changed. If the Frenchman does not renew this week, before deadline day in the transfer window, they will look for a way for him to leave Barça before 31 January.

Barcelona want to avoid getting to 1 February with Dembélé in the squad if he has not signed a new deal. His current deal expires on 30 June.

Whether Dembélé leaves or stays, the key for Barcelona is to reduce the wage bill at Camp Nou and to be able to sign in the January transfer window, which is why right now making a decision is a priority for the club short term.
