A major update on the future of Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has come to the fore in Germany this week.
The info comes by way of Bayern insider Christian Falk of SportBild, who has revealed that the board at the Allianz Arena, for the first time, are now taking into consideration Kimmich’s sale.
The 28-year-old, for his part, is becoming increasingly frustrated with his role under the watch of Thomas Tuchel.
The situation reached boiling point this past weekend, when Kimmich was hooked just an hour into Bayern’s 1-0 Bundesliga defeat at the hands of Werder Bremen.
In turn, it has been confirmed that ‘Bayern would be willing to discuss a sale in the summer’.
This change of heart on the part of the Bavarians, though, does not come owing solely to Kimmich’s growing unrest.
In addition, Spanish champions Barcelona are playing a part.
The Blaugrana, and specifically head coach Xavi Hernández, have long been in the ear of the versatile midfielder, in an effort to lure him to Catalunya.
With Kimmich’s current terms in Munich due to expire in 2025, Bayern have therefore been left with little choice but to explore a deal this summer, to ensure that the club’s long-time talisman does not simply run his contract down, before departing for Barcelona on a free transfer.
