Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso has this week spoken out on the future of key defender Jonathan Tah.
This, of course, comes amid ongoing speculation linking the German international with a move away from the BayArena, upon the expiration of his contract next summer.
La Liga giants Barcelona, for one, have been persistently tipped as a potential landing spot for Tah.
So much so that, just last week, reports spread in the Spanish media that the Blaugrana had held a successful sit-down with the stopper and his entourage, during which a free agent joining of forces was all but agreed.
Speaking during a press conference ahead of Bayer Leverkusen’s impending Champions League showdown with Inter Milan, Xabi Alonso was in turn asked for the latest on Tah’s future at the club.
And the Spanish tactician went on to explain:
“I’m not worried about it at the moment. We’re happy to have him with us this season. His attitude is top-notch and he has a big impact on our game. We need him until the last day and then we’ll see what happens in the future.”
