‘With you until death’ – Gavi sends heartfelt message to departing Barcelona boss Xavi

Barcelona midfielder Gavi has taken to social media, to respond to news of the incoming departure of head coach Xavi Hernández.

The name of tactician Xavi, of course, has taken its place centre stage in the headlines across not only Spain, but all of Europe late on Saturday night.

This comes after the Spaniard announced his intention to depart his post upon the close of the campaign.

Speaking in a press conference on the back of Barca’s damaging 5-3 defeat at the hands of Villarreal, Xavi stated:

“I want to announce that on June 30 I will no longer continue as the coach at Barça. I think the situation needs to change course, and as a culer, I cannot allow the current situation.”

Word of the former Blaugrana midfielder’s decision actually came just hours on from a number of the club’s current crop of stars moving to defend their headmaster.

Post-match at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, the likes of João Cancelo, Ronald Araújo and Frenkie de Jong were all steadfast in their respective stances that Xavi remained the man to lead the club forward into a prosperous new era.

Safe to say, then, that news of his upcoming exit has no doubt hit Barcelona’s squad hard.

And, as alluded to above, in the early hours of Sunday morning, another member of Xavi’s ranks has too chimed in.

The player in question? Gavi.

Taking to his official Instagram account a short time ago, youngster Gavi – currently sidelined long-term owing to injury – sent a heartfelt message to his beloved head coach:

“I will always be with you until death, coach,” he wrote.
