With Florian Wirtz in sights, Real Madrid also ‘following’ 2nd Bayer Leverkusen star

The powers that be at La Liga giants Real Madrid are keeping an eye on the development of not one, but two members of the the first-choice XI at German high-flyers Bayer Leverkusen.

That’s according to Javier Rodríguez Pascual of Relevo, who has reiterated that, as confirmed earlier in the day, the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu are indeed keen admirers of Bayer sensation Florian Wirtz.

The issue, however, is that as things stand, there is simply no room for the 20-year-old in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

The intrigue on the part of the Real transfer team in Xabi Alonso’s squad at the BayArena, however, does not end there.

This comes with Los Blancos having also had their heads turned by the remarkable exploits of Jeremie Frimpong across the season to date.

On the lookout for a long-term successor to Dani Carvajal at right-back, Frimpong is being closely ‘followed’, with a view to both next season, and the 2025/26 term.

After finding the net once more en route to Bayer Leverkusen’s 4-0 cup drubbing of Fortuna Düsseldorf this evening, the Dutchman has taken his tally to a hefty 22 goal contributions across the term to date.

And such numbers have not gone at all unnoticed at the aforementioned Real Madrid, albeit with it also noted that the coaching staff in Spain’s capital harbour doubts when it comes to Frimpong’s abilities on the defensive end.
