Will Real Madrid sign a replacement for defender David Alaba?

An update on the plans of the powers that be at Real Madrid for the January transfer window has been provided.

The subject of mid-season reinforcements has of course taken its place front and centre in the chatter surrounding Carlo Ancelotti’s squad over the last 24 hours.

This comes after Los Blancos were dealt yet another major injury blow.

With both Thibaut Courtois and Éder Militão already sidelined owing to respective ACL tears, David Alaba followed suit, during the club’s La Liga downing of Villarreal.

With the Austrian set to miss the remainder of the term, widespread reports quickly surfaced, pointing towards the Real brass preparing to dip into the market this winter, in a bid to reinforce Ancelotti’s depleted central defensive ranks.

If the latest word emanating from Madrid is anything to go by, however, then, surprisingly, this looks unlikely to prove the case.

As per a report from José Félix Díaz of Marca, Florentino Pérez and his team have come to the collective decision that Alaba’s injury will not change the club’s January transfer plan.

Instead, the Blancos’ coaching staff will be asked to lean on Antonio Rüdiger and Nacho for the time being, with Aurélien Tchouaméni ready to step into a deeper defensive role in the case of an emergency.
