Will Ousmane Dembélé’s new Barcelona deal affect Raphinha?

Ousmane Dembélé’s contract renewal could affect the club’s transfer planning this summer.

A new deal for the Frenchman does not mean that a deal for Raphinha is no longer in the club’s plans, but the arrival of the Brazilian is no longer such a priority at Camp Nou, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Barça have been negotiating with Leeds for weeks for the transfer of the Brazilian, with the help of Deco, his agent and at the same time an advisor for Barça.

For the moment, Barça cannot meet Leeds’ financial demands, nor can they match other offers they have received, but they are counting on the player’s desire to play at Camp Nou.

That is why both Raphinha and Deco have put the brakes on a move to Chelsea and are waiting for Barça. But if Dembélé’s contract renewal is confirmed, the Brazilian’s signing will not be as necessary and the club is in favour of working on more priority signings like César Azpilicueta, Jules Koundé and Marcos Alonso in defence as well as Robert Lewandowski.

In the next few days, a new meeting should take place between Xavi and the club to plan for the season once Dembélé’s deal is confirmed.

The Barcelona manager is delighted to be able to continue counting on Dembélé and is not closing the door on Raphinha, but he is also aware that there are other priorities.
