Why some Real Madrid board members are already turning on José Mourinho

Sections of the boardroom at La Liga giants Real Madrid are already growing frustrated with the efforts of José Mourinho across the season to date. This comes for a whole host of reasons, on and off the pitch alike.

Real Madrid have of course endured something of a hit-and-miss campaign all told to date. Across 10 fixtures in all competitions, Los Blancos have emerged triumphant all but twice.

Their performances along the way, however, have too often left a lot to be desired, lacking cohesion and a consistent pattern of play.

Not only that, but the relentless nature of Hansi Flick’s Barcelona means that defeat in next weekend’s El Clásico could all but end Real’s La Liga title chances by October.

And as alluded to above, amongst some sections of the boardroom at the Bernabéu, the finger of blame is being pointed in the direction of José Mourinho…

As per a report from club insider Jorge C Picon:

‘There are doubts from the executive suites. There are important voices in the club that aren’t convinced by what they’re seeing. The scant presence of Diomande in the starting lineups and some change with Arda Güler that they considered untimely didn’t sit well either.

‘They expected the margin of decision to translate into a more visible overhaul. However, there are too many similarities with last season, in the style of play and in some decisions. The excitement that accompanied his return has given way, in part of the club, to a more demanding gaze.’
