Why Real Madrid will not announce Kylian Mbappé’s signing until the summer

Spanish giants Real Madrid do not intend to make the signing of Kylian Mbappé official until the close of the campaign.

That’s according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto, who has today provided the latest on developments behind the scenes in Madrid.

It is of course now common knowledge that Mbappé, for all intents and purposes, can be considered a Real Madrid player.

After last week informing Paris Saint-Germain of his decision not to renew his expiring contract beyond the summer, the 25-year-old has been locked in intense negotiations with Los Blancos ever since.

And, just this morning, several outlets in the Spanish press went as far as to claim that Mbappé has put pen to paper on a deal with his new club, through the summer of 2029.

If ensuing word this afternoon is anything to go by, however, then those of a Real persuasion need not get their hopes up when it comes to an announcement regarding their side’s latest Galactico addition just yet.

This comes amid confirmation that Florentino Pérez and co. do not intend to move forward with as much until the summer.

As per the aforementioned Matteo Moretto, writing for Relevo, Mbappé has indeed reached a verbal agreement with Real Madrid.

However, he has not yet signed on.

Talks are ongoing between the capital giants, and the attacker’s mother and representative, Fayza.

This comes with details of the definitive terms of the deal still to be ironed out, albeit with both parties keen to push the operation over the line as soon as possible.

And yet, upon precisely that being managed, Real will bide their time when it comes to a formal announcement.

Los Merengues of course remain in the hunt for a league and Champions League double this season, and do not want any distractions in their endeavours to add to the club’s silverware cabinet.

Both the club’s supporters, and Mbappé himself, will therefore be forced to wait until ‘there are no titles left at stake’.
