France head coach Didier Deschamps was left less than impressed with one a leading member of his squad, on the back of their recent meeting with Poland.
That’s according to Marca, citing L’Équipe, who point towards Eduardo Camavinga as the player in question.
Real Madrid star Camavinga, for his part, was introduced as a 2nd-half substitute on Tuesday, as France were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by the aforementioned Poland.
The result saw Les Bleus slip off top spot into 2nd in the Group D table, facing up to a Last-16 showdown with Belgium as a result.
Speaking to the media on the back of the clash, boss Deschamps, in turn, made clear his disappointment, in particular with the lack of impact made by his 2nd-half substitutes.
Deschamps’ choice words for Camavinga, though, did not end there.
As per L’Équipe:
‘The coach, still hot from the draw, reproached him for his choice of boots due to his continuous slipping on the grass.’
The tension is understood to have carried over into training on Thursday, too, with Deschamps having made use of the opportunity to aim what has been described as something of a ‘dig’ at his midfield starlet.
The pair were then seen back in discussion later in the session, with Camavinga’s choice of footwear having again been on the agenda.
