Bayer Leverkusen starlet Florian Wirtz could play a central role in the transfer saga linking Liverpool’s Luis Díaz with a move to La Liga giants Barcelona.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have this week provided an insight into the situation.
The name of winger Díaz has of course taken its place centre stage in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital for several days now.
This comes amid mounting claims that the Colombian has been identified as the priority summer transfer target on the part of the Barcelona board.
Amid an ongoing search for reinforcements out wide for next season, Deco and co. have earmarked Díaz as the ideal profile.
Liverpool, for their part, are not expected to make it easy for Barcelona to push a deal for the former Porto man over the line, demanding a premium sum for a player at the peak of his powers.
But as alluded to above, the Blaugrana’s hopes could yet be aided by some Liverpool transfer work of their own…
As per Sport:
‘Liverpool are ready to pay more than 110 million euros for Florian Wirtz and will need to get players off their books. One of them will be Darwin Núñez. And the other is Luis Díaz, who would not have a place in the eleven in the event that Wirtz signs.’
At this point, Barcelona would be primed to strike.
