Why Barcelona’s move for Wojciech Szczęsny has been delayed

La Liga giants Barcelona’s move for free agent goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny has been put momentarily on hold.

That’s according to Relevo, who have on Saturday provided the latest on the situation.

The name of shot-stopper Szczęsny has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the week to date.

This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the Pole is all set to come out of retirement, to pen terms with Barcelona for the season ahead.

As much comes after Blaugrana no.1 Marc-André ter Stegen was ruled out for what is expected to be the remainder of the campaign with a serious knee injury.

The expectation, initially, was that Szczęsny’s signing could be announced by Barcelona as early as this weekend.

As much, however, now appears to have been ruled out.

This comes amid confirmation on the part of the aforementioned Relevo that, owing to ‘technical problems with La Liga’, Barca have not yet been permitted to make their latest addition official:

‘Wojciech Szczęsny, with whom Barcelona has everything sorted out to be their new goalkeeper, cannot be announced yet because there are technical problems with LaLiga.’
