An explanation for the absence of frontman Artem Dovbyk from Girona’s matchday squad to face Real Sociedad has been provided late this evening.
Girona, of course, are currently locked in action.
Aware that another three-point haul would see them leapfrog Real Madrid back to the top of the La Liga standings, Michel’s troops have welcomed the aforementioned Real Sociedad to the Estadi Montilivi.
As things stand in Catalunya, the two sides remain deadlocked, at 0-0.
Hosts Girona’s efforts to find an all-important opener, though, have been heavily hampered by the absence of the club’s top scorer.
Upon Michel’s latest squad being unveiled in the buildup to tonight’s fixture, Artem Dovbyk was surprisingly nowhere to be seen.
As alluded to above, though, an explanation for as much has since been forthcoming online.
As per Cope, amongst others, frontman Dovbyk was forced to sit out training on Friday, owing to an unspecified source of ‘discomfort’.
The Ukrainian, as a result, was not risked to face Sociedad.
