Who will Real Madrid face if they beat Atlético in the Champions League?

The path to the finale of the Champions League was on Friday laid out in front of reigning tournament holders Real Madrid.

This came by way of the draw for the Last-16 of the competition.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Real have been pitted against none other than city rivals Atlético in the knockout rounds, a mouthwatering tie for fans and neutrals alike.

And, should Los Blancos manage to advance beyond Diego Simeone’s side, they are already aware of the two potential opponents lying in wait in the quarter-finals.

Owing to the altered new-look Champions League format, the path to the final has already been laid out for the 16 remaining clubs.

And, in the case of Real Madrid, it is either Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal or Dutch heavyweights PSV Eindhoven who lie in wait in the quarters.
