Alexia Putellas set for a return to action

Alexia Putellas has been training with Barcelona after making a recovery from rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament on international duty last year.

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, on Sunday 16 April, Putellas could have given a clue on her Twitter account after posting a photo of herself in the Barcelona kit, showing her number 11 shirt with exactly 11 days to go until Chelsea visit Camp Nou for the second leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-finals on Thursday 27 April.

Alexia suffered the injury on 5 July 2022 at Spain’s training camp just before the start of the European Championship in England, rupturing the ACL in her left knee, an injury that has kept her sidelined for over nine months.

On Monday 27 March, after training for several days on the pitch alone, the player from Mollet del Vallès returned to club training.

Putellas could now be set to return for the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals in 10 days’ time. The Catalan player was instrumental in the competition last season, where Barcelona broke two attendance records.

To the delight of the staff, the squad and the fans, Putellas is on her way back to action.
