A trio of Real Madrid stars were quick to show their support for teammate Kylian Mbappé, on the back of his costly missed spot-kick on Wednesday.
The name of frontman Mbappé, of course, took its place front and centre in the headlines once more last night.
Unfortunately for the Frenchman, however, as much came for altogether less-than-positive reasons.
En route to an eventual 2-1 defeat at the hands of Athletic Club, Mbappé was responsible for his latest hugely underwhelming individual display.
The highlight (or rather lowlight) of as much came during the 2nd-half, when the summer arrival in Spain’s capital was afforded the chance to draw the visitors level from the penalty spot.
As proved the case at Anfield in the Champions League last week, however, Mbappé fluffed his lines, his weak effort kept out by Julen Agirrezabala.
As much no doubt came as a heavy blow for a player who has come under a wave of criticism on the part of his own fans over recent weeks.
In the knowledge of precisely that, several of Mbappé’s teammates, in turn, were quick to make clear their support for the crestfallen attacker on Wednesday night.
As showcased in the footage below, on the back of his penalty miss, all of Jude Bellingham, Raúl Asencio and Antonio Rüdiger swiftly approached Mbappé, to provide some words of encouragement:
