Vitor Roque chooses Barcelona squad number as eligibility for Las Palmas clash assured

New Barcelona signing Vitor Roque is expected to be afforded his debut in the club’s upcoming meeting with Las Palmas.

The name of frontman Roque has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalonia’s capital once again.

This comes, first, after the Brazilian’s Barcelona jersey number was confirmed.

After his arrival from Athletico Paranaense was pushed forward to the January window, Roque has opted to take on the No. 19 shirt in Xavi Hernández’s squad.

Vitor Roque debut

Just when, though, will the Barca faithful be afforded their first opportunity to see Roque, boasting his new number, take to the pitch for the first time in the club’s colours?

Well, despite claims to the contrary in the media earlier today, as much looks likely to come later this week.

Roque, according to Sport, is in line to be registered as a Blaugrana player at some point over the coming 48 hours.

The club’s hierarchy are currently looking over the final details of his papers, ahead of forwarding them on to La Liga’s offices.

Should Xavi deem it appropriate, the 18-year-old will therefore be part of the matchday squad to face Las Palmas, in Barcelona’s return to La Liga action on Thursday evening.
