Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. has this week sent a fresh public plea to the game’s officials and rule-makers alike, regarding the protection of players.
Wide-man Vinícius was for his part in from the off on Wednesday night, as Real Madrid made the trip to Italy for a Champions League showdown with AS Roma.
When all was said and done on a night to remember for Los Blancos, they rallied back from two goals down to ultimately emerge 4-3 victors.
Vinícius, however, again struggled badly, hooked from proceedings before the hour mark after failing to make any sort of telling impact in the final third.
Following the full-time whistle at the Stadio Olimpico, the Brazilian was therefore understandably not in the greatest of moods. During an exchange with the media, ‘Viní’ made use of the opportunity to reveal his frustrations with both opposing defenders and referees, in explaining:
“I feel like defenders can always kick me, yet I am the one who gets booked. I think we need to protect players who can make a difference like me, Lamine Yamal and Julián Álvarez…”
