Villarreal interested in Celta Vigo midfielder Denis Suárez

As reported by Marca, Villarreal are interested in signing Celta Vigo midfielder Denis Suárez.

Suárez is set to leave Celta this summer, with his contract expiring in 2023.

The Spaniard experienced his best season with Villarreal under Marcelino in 2015/16, playing 45 games, scoring five goals and providing 11 assists.

He was also with the Sevilla side that won the second Europa League under Unai Emery in 2014/15. Under the Basque manager, he played 46 games, scoring six goals and registering two assists.

He then signed for Emery’s Arsenal in the 2019 winter transfer window but a pubic injury kept him out for most of that spell, and he only made six appearances.

At 28, he has been converted to a central midfielder by Celta manager Eduardo Coudet.

“I’m a different player. It has nothing to do with how I was before. The previous Denis was more of a showboater than good,” he said in an interview with Marca.

Sevilla and Real Sociedad are also reportedly monitoring his situation.
