Villarreal consider Johan Mojica

Villarreal are interested in signing Johan Mojica from Elche, according to Alfredo Matilla at Relevo.

It was communicated yesterday that The Yellow Submarine are in the market for reinforcements upfront and a new striker.

Mojica could potentially fill the void left by Pervis Estupiñán, who departed the club to join Brighton for a fee believed to be around €17 million.

Villarreal’s only option at left-back at the moment is Alfonso Pedraza as Alberto Moreno is recovering from an injury. The Spanish defender is not expected to be fit and available until the season restarts after the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

It is believed that Mojica has a €5.5 million release clause and a contract with Elche until June 2024.

The Colombian international was loaned out by Girona to Elche for the second half of the 2020/21 season before signing for Los Franjiverdes permanently in the summer of 2021.
