Speaking to Catalan media outlet Sport on Monday, Barcelona presidential candidate Víctor Font ruled out the possibility of bringing Neymar back to Camp Nou if he gets elected to the role of club president.
“Institutionally, Neymar’s not in my plans. For financial reasons and for other reasons, like the lawsuit he has against the club and the fact he left the club in a tricky position days before the season started (in 2017). He would fit in on the sporting side but not on the financial or the institutional side of things. The signings will be in the hands of the sporting directorate, though, not as they have been made up until now (with the board involved).”
The Barcelona presidential elections are due to take place on January 24. Barça have been without a president since Josep Maria Bartomeu resigned at the end of October and Font is the favourite to win the election in 2021.
