La Liga outfit Valencia have on Monday been dealt a fresh blow on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that captain and defensive star José Gayà is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Left-back Gayà was for his part forced into a premature departure from Valencia’s most recent outing.
En route to Los Che’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Rayo Vallecano over the weekend, the 29-year-old was withdrawn at the interval, owing to a muscular problem.
Gayà, in turn, was put through a round of medical tests on Monday morning.
And as much, as alluded to above, confirmed the fears of the Valencia coaching staff.
As per a report from Marca:
‘He underwent tests this morning and it is estimated that he has a micro-tear in his hamstring, meaning he will be out for 2-3 weeks.’
Such an absence would mean Gayà sitting out his side’s upcoming fixtures against all of Real Valladolid, Espanyol and Deportivo Alavés.
