Valencia in talks for Lille forward Timothy Weah

Valencia are in talks for Lille striker Timothy Weah, according to Matteo Moretto.

As ElDesmarque Valencia reports, the club has not yet made a final bid for the US international, as their priority is another position.

Weah would join on loan. Los Che are also targeting Jason Denayer, a central defender who would arrive on a free transfer.

According to website Transfermarkt, Weah has 24 senior caps and three goals for the USMNT.

Weah is the son of the legendary George Weah, who was Valencia manager Gennaro Gattuso’s team-mate for a year at AC Milan.

Weah was one of the players Valencia faced when they met Celtic in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 in 2019. The first leg was played at Celtic Park, a game that saw Rubén Sobrino score his first goal in a Valencia shirt. Marcelino’s side got through the tie with relative ease and went on to reach the semi-finals of the competition, where they were beaten by Arsenal.
