Valencia handed double fitness boost ahead of Las Palmas clash

Valencia’s hopes of building on a solid recent run of form with another victory this weekend have on Friday been afforded a boost.

This comes by way of confirmation that two high-profile members of Rubén Baraja’s squad have secured a return to matchday duties.

The players in question? Sergi Canós, and Mouctar Diakhaby.

Attacker Canós, for his part, was forced to sit out each of Valencia’s last two outings, owing to a muscular injury suffered against Athletic Club late last month.

Stopper Diakhaby, meanwhile, has not taken to the pitch for Los Che since all the way back in mid-December, after being called up to Guinea’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of his side’s trip to Gran Canaria to face Las Palmas on Saturday, though, Rubén Baraja confirmed that both Canós and Diakhaby are back in contention to feature:

“Canós will be there,” Valencia’s headmaster began, as cited by El Desmarque. “He has recovered well from his injury and it is true that he is at the moment where he can participate, but not in a complete match. Diakhaby is tired of trips. He is tired, he is going to come and we will give him rest when we can later.”
