Up to 11 players could leave as Villarreal plan huge clear out

This summer Villarreal are planning to carry out a process of rejuvenating their ageing squad and according to Relevo as many as 11 players could depart the club.

Last week the club announced the renewal of veteran Dani Parejo. Although, this suggests the club is going to begin a cycle of renewing the contracts for members of the first team, is is more than likely than many will leave the club once their deals expire in the summer.

The margin of departures will range between five and 11, as this depends on whether the club are playing European football next season. Up to 11 players from the yellow team see their contracts expire in June and although some may be rewarded with new deals, many will leave the club at the end of the current campaign.

Pepe Reina, Raúl Albiol, Alberto Moreno, Adri Altimira, Étienne Capoue, Francis Coquelin, José Morales, Bertrand Traore, Hugo Novoa, Gonçalo Guedes and Yerson Mosquera could all be released by the La Liga side in the summer. Although Morales was the team’s top scorer last year, his role has been reduced in recent weeks to the point that his game time is very limited and therefore he is expected to depart in the summer.

Moreno, Reina and Albiol are considered as important members of the squad and the three hope that the yellow club will offer them to renewer for even one more season with a salary reduction. However, recent reports suggest that a decision will not be made until the end of the season.
