Real Sociedad signed Umar Sadiq from Almería on the final day of the transfer window.
The Basque outfit paid €20m in order to secure the services of the Nigerian striker. He gave his first interview as a Real Sociedad player to the club’s official media and discussed why he decided to join the side:
“I have chosen Real because it is one of the most important teams in Spain. It is a step forward and I am very grateful that they have signed me. I am very happy. Real was the best option, I couldn’t say no.”
He expressed his gratitude towards club president Jokin Aperribay:
“I would like to thank the president for trusting me. I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates and I’m very happy to be here. Aúpa Real!”
Aperribay also wished the best to Umar Sadiq:
“We are very happy that you are here. We wish you all the best. We hope that you connect very well with the fans and that you will be very happy in San Sebastian.”
