Two members of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid have been ruled out of the club’s upcoming meeting with Arsenal.
That’s according to Marca, who point towards Andriy Lunin and Ferland Mendy as the pair in question.
Real Madrid are of course primed to kick their European campaign back into gear on Wednesday night.
After being put to the sword by three goals to nil in the tie’s opener at The Emirates, Los Blancos will welcome Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to Spain’s capital, eyeing a minor miracle in the Champions League quarter-final 2nd-leg between the clubs.
Two players who will not contribute in such efforts, as alluded to above, though, will be goalkeeper Lunin, and defender Mendy.
In the case of the latter, Mendy has been sidelined for the last month, owing to a hamstring injury.
Shot-stopper Lunin, meanwhile, has been unavailable for selection for the past fortnight, as a result of a muscular problem of his own.
And according to Marca, with neither player having yet recovered full fitness:
‘Los Blancos have two confirmed absences for the match against the English side, Ferland Mendy and Andriy Lunin, who will be unable to help their teammates try to overturn the 3-0 deficit from the first leg.’
