Two in, one out, one doubt – Girona squad latest for Athletic Club clash

An insight into the latest personnel news stemming from Míchel’s Girona squad has today been provided.

Fresh off a harrowing defeat last time out, which saw the club’s La Liga title aspirations all but ended by way of a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Real Madrid, Girona must now dust themselves down, for a return to action next Monday night.

This comes with a testing trip to San Mamés lying in wait, as the Blanquivermells going about getting their stellar campaign back on track in a meeting with Athletic Club.

And their hopes of precisely that are set to be aided by the return of two key figures to the club’s starting XI.

After sitting out respective suspensions at the Santiago Bernabéu last weekend, Daley Blind and Yangel Herrera will both be at the disposal of Míchel in the Basque Country.

Girona’s boss himself, meanwhile, is also primed for a comeback, after too being forced to fulfill a one-match ban in Madrid.

On the other hand, added to the suspension list is Yan Couto, whose evening to forget against Real was capped off by a 5th yellow card of the season.

Finally, on the fitness front, the one major doubt for Girona remains David López.

As per Diario Sport, defender López was spotted back in training this week, after over a month on the sidelines with a muscular injury.

His participation at San Mamés, though, remains unclear, with Míchel unlikely to risk such a key member of his squad if he is not yet fully fit.
