Tottenham want Yannick Carrasco – but Atlético will not budge from release clause

Tottenham are interested in signing Yannick Carrasco from Atlético Madrid, but Los Colchoneros are not willing to negotiate a transfer fee with the North London club.

Yesterday reports from England emerged that Tottenham were contemplating to make an offer for Carrasco. However, according to Marca, Atléti will not enter talks.

The Belgian international is an integral part of Diego Simeone’s side and the club has told suitors they would have to pay the €60m release clause if they want to tempt him away from Madrid.

This is not the first time that Atlético Madrid have taken this stance with Premier League clubs. Both Manchester City and Arsenal had to pay Rodri’s and Thomas Partey’s release clauses respectively in previous transfer windows.

The La Liga side are not planning to be involved in any more transfer deals this summer, apart from the departure of Renan Lodi and the signing of Sergio Reguilón.
